3: Cranberry Juice
Cranberry juice is also a common remedy for UTI in humans, pregnant women often suffer from the infection and are prescribed sachets of cranberry powder to be diluted in to water and consumed before breakfast and at night before going to bed. Similarly, Cranberry juice can be an effective remedy for UTIs in Cats. However, it may be difficult to convince the cat to consume the juice, therefore, as with apple cider vinegar the juice can be mixed in with the cat’s meals. If the sachets are unavailable and it is necessary to opt for carton juice, ensure that the juice is unsweetened as too much sugar is harmful and won’t be doing any favours to the cats UTI.
4: Homoeopathic and natural Medicines
Homoeopathic medicines are available for the treatment of UTIs, you may also be able to find medicines over the internet that can help, the ingredients of which consist of herbal elements such as cranberry, parsley, thyme, horsetail ETC. All of which can be beneficial in the elimination of UTI.
5: Cod Liver Oil
Cod Liver Oil can be an effective treatment for UTIs if the symptoms are detected at an early stage, add a teaspoon of the oil to the cat’s food, this can also be given if the signs are not present in order to prevent UTIs.
If the signs and symptoms still persist despite efforts, please ensure you visit a vet in order to eliminate the risk of Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD), this is a group of diseases that can affect the cat’s bladder or urethra and can be much more harmful than UTI. FLUTD is caused by stones in the bladder or crystals. FLUTD can be treated effectively by a vet but if not treated adequately can result in agonising pain or even worst fatality.
