Staph infection is caused by a bacteria known as “staphylococcus” which usually houses on the skin of human body. The infection is the consequence of penetration of the skin by the said bacteria. The penetration can be aided by some wound, injury or a lesion.
Skin infections caused by Staph include impetigo, cellulitis and staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome. More-over, it is also responsible for afflicting its recipient with food poisoning manifested by symptoms such as nausea, dehydration and low blood pressure.
The disease is contagious so precaution should be taken to distance yourself from the diseased person. Diabetic individuals, nursing mothers, infants and people with feeble immune systems, kidney failures, respiratory problems etc. are more vulnerable to this disease.
As explained earlier, the disease spreads mainly through penetration of the skin. The penetration can result due to a number of reasons such as cuts, wounds, lesions and contact with the diseased individual.
Delay in diagnosis and treatment of staph can result in development of other skin ailments that can leave a long lasting impact on the skin. You should contact your doctor as soon as you start experiencing the symptoms associated with the disease.
